Initiated by Jasmina Prolic, this project is carried(worn) by four organizers the Company Jasmina (Orléans, France), the HIPP – Croatian Institute of the Movement and the Dance (Zagreb, Croatia), Teatro Viriato (Viseu, Portugal) and Trafo (Budapest, Hungary).

This project is the new implemented shape by the Company Jasmina to promote the work of the artists of South-East Europe, two years after the ” choreographic Meetings of the Balkans “.

Together, we met around our common will to facilitate the mobility and the visibility of the artists of South-East Europe and to facilitate the fair traffic(circulation) of the choreographic works.

Through W-EST_WHERE we also aim at the development of the meetings and the exchanges around the stakes in the contemporary creation in Europe. This way, the creation of an environment favorable to the creativity and to the innovation is in the heart of the project.

Since June, 2009 and to June, 2011, W-EST_WHERE circulates from Orléans in Viseu, from Budapest to Zagreb, making stopover for Sarajevo and Kanjiza. He(it) spreads(displays, deploys) through time(weather) forts welcomed in every country, thought as so many rooms(parts, plays) of a puzzle, a fresco representing the current events of the contemporary dance in South-East Europe. This itinerant European festival feeds on its various stages, through collective works such as Laboratories of search(research) and Creation, the meetings and debates, investigating the problems of the contemporary dance in Europe of the West, the Southeast and their interactions. According to the will to facilitate the dialogue around the contemporary dance and around the creation in South-East Europe, several participative actions(shares) will be proposed (workshop(studio), video-dance, jam session).
